Farm Manager

The farm at REAP Granada is growing!  We are seeking a Farm Manager with a passion for people, produce, leadership, relationship-building, and mentoring.  Our ideal Farm Manager will demonstrate the ability to be responsible for and drive daily farm operations; maintain a positive and energetic culture; commitment to working collaboratively with a team of missionaries and locals; and excellent communication skills. 

Primary Responsibilities

The REAP Granada Farm Manager oversees the agricultural development of the REAP property in Granada in order to provide fresh food, employment for the local community, and personal development opportunities for workers and visiting missions teams.  The Farm Manager is responsible for managing the logistics of the farm and maintaining the long-term sustainability of the farm.

Duties include the following:

  • Disciple and minister to farm workers and locals.
  • Interact with wholesale buyers to sell crops.  Demonstrate biblical stewardship.
  • Develop a model to enable locals to start businesses selling produce.
  • Involve short-term mission teams visiting REAP in farm projects and disciple them through servant leadership.
  • Research and select profitable crops.
  • Plan and maintain irrigation of crops.
  • Research and document environmental factors: wind patterns, soil type, planting seasons.
  • Oversee mulching and effective reuse of farm materials, including secondary uses for crops.
  • Develop planting and maintenance manual for locals.

Qualifications

  • Professing Christian with established record of high Christian character, integrity, servant leadership, maturity, and a positive attitude.
    • Character and Integrity – strong Christian moral principles, be trustworthy, honest, fair, and display the Fruit of the Spirit in both word and action
    • Servant leadership – lead as Christ did with humility, considering the team’s needs above your own and making it your priority to develop those you serve
    • Maturity – strong spiritually, responding appropriately with respect to the time and place of every situation
    • Positive attitude – always willing to do your best with what is asked of you
  • Commitment to learning fluent Spanish in the timeframe deemed appropriate.

For this position, you will be asked to develop a team of ministry partners to complete the fundraising goal.  Through this process, ministering to partners through prayer and teaching biblical truths is essential.
